CONSTRUCTION OF MOUNT HYMETTUS
The ‘Construction of Mount Hymettus’ is an interdisciplinary project of poetry, video, landscape architecture and sculpture. The new geography of Attica-Athens places the mountain in the center of the city. The re-inhabitation of the mountain, as an extended area of urban cultivations, by the metropolitan multitude is explored. The collective memory regarding built activity over cultivation soil, as seen throughout Mediterranean history, is re-enacted: an extended project of building parapets along the south part of the mountain. It would restrain soil and allow urban cultivation to grow towards a new influential bioclimatic status.
